How can you (human) toilet train a cat?

If you’ve trained your cat to use your toilet, I’d love to hear how. I know when I worked for PetSmart many years ago we used to have a clear plastic pan that was used to train cats to use a toilet made for humans but I was never really sure if it would work. I have 2 cats that are over a year old now so they should be big enough to use it.
