have you done this before? is it possible to fail? if yes, what are the consequences? how much time will it take for the average cat?
we’re on week 2, with a litter bowl in the toilet that’s covered with cardboard with a hole in the middle above the bowl. my cat freaked out a little, but now he got used to it.

I plan on starting this with my kitten. He’s 4 months old. He is always getting on the toilet to watch the flush & swirl, & sometimes sticks his paw in the water. I’ve never seen him drink out of the toilet, so I think he would be OK with it.

I watched some on Youtube. I tried once, and i read, put plastic wrap over the bowl, litter, then decrease… well my cat stepd in, tore the plastic, and got her leg dunked. Try it if you have 2 toilets at least. the litter is expensive. they can’t flush tho. it might be unsanitary to flush cat waste as that gets recycled at the water plant. If you scoop n flush… it can clog up the throne. try it when they are young.

I think I could train one of my cats to use the toilet since he seems smart. He opens cabinets and doors (they’re pull handles). He also tries to turn on the faucet and when his water dish is empty he’ll let me know by trying to grab the water bottle next to me with his paws. So here is the questions, do you think it is possible? If so, how would I go about training him?

if you caould find a way tio put the cat box in the toilet and having the cat go in there and then taking it out when the cat gets used to it then maybe it would work

training your cat to use the toilet is very similar to litter box training its better if you have a 2nd bathroom though if its already using a litter box move it next to the toilet and let the cat use it there for a week or so then remove the box and put plastic under the toilet seat with litter over it and place the cat on the toilet so it recognizes it as the new litter box (you a biodegradable litter) let the cat use this for a couple weeks until it gets used to it then remove the plastic then it should be done. it should understand the toilet is the new litter box its pretty simple unless you have to keep removing the plastic to use it yourself. good luck let me no if you figure out to teach it to flush

Ive been trying to toilet train my cat for 3 weeks now. i started with a container with liter in the toilet then moved on to a strainer with a bag and litter i removed the bag and kept a but of litter but she seams not to like that. its a smaller space so i change the strainer to a flat tray. with litter to see if that will work. i know you can buy kits but it cost way to much for my budget any one have any ideas of what i can do and what i can use?
i looked at the website before didnt help but ty

I am considering toilet-training my 4 month old kitten, and feel like it would be successful. However, I was wondering if someone could help me. When my husband and I go on a vacation and need to put him in a kennel or pet hotel place, will he still use the litter box they provide? And when he’s back home, will he use the toilet again? This also pertains to traveling to family & friends’ homes.

In a strange place it is likely not to act nor react the same as it would in familiar surroundings. Once returned to its familiar surroundings it may take a while to get back to its regular routine.

Our cat uses the kitty littler, however he also uses the corner of our room, and other places.

We try to yell at him when we catch him but he does it so often!

I just cleaned out the area he had been going to the toilet in our room and showed him it and said the whole “bad kitty thin g” and locked him in the bathroom with his litter for about 30 minutes.

why does he keep peeing everywhere when he knows he should use the litter! ugh, he is almost a year old.

You might want to change litter types, or brands. One of my cats won’t use certain types of litter. Clean it often as some cats are ultra picky about cleanliness (one of mine again – same one). Or you might want to move the litter box to see if he likes it somewhere else. Perhaps in the area he keeps going in. Even if you set it there just temporarily, he might get the idea. Also be sure you never punish him around the litter box, because you don’t want him to have a negative experience there.
