when toilet training my cat, once i remove the litter box don’t they still want to bury?
i know how to train them to use the toilet but no where have i found an explanation as to when i finally remove the litter box from the toilet and they go there, where does their urge to bury their poo in the litter after go?
do you get what i mean?
my cats dig and then go wee/poo and then bury it with litter. if they use the toilet they wont be able to do this so wont they just try to find the litter again and have accidents?
Max on the toilet
Here is my cat Max peeing in the toilet. He is on the Litter Kwitter’s green “last” stage. I am using pine flushable litter.
How can I modify a toilet seat (ie, add a ledge) so I can potty-train a 3-legged cat?
Toilet-training a cat requires that the cat learn how to perch on the edge of the toilet seat and squat, so this obviously requires good balance. I just adopted a 3-legged kitten and want to potty-train him, but I need to add a ledge-type thing to the side of the toilet seat so he can balance. If it matters–he is missing a hind leg.
Any ideas how I can do this? I’m not super-handy, but I’m willing to put effort towards making this work! Thanks so much for your suggestions!
Will a toilet trained cat use more than one toilet?
Or will it only use the toilet that it has been trained to?
What are you people talking about? I said very clearly TOILET TRAINED CAT. Not litter box trained cat.

How do you toilet train a cat on a turkish toilet?
I adopted a kitty not long ago. I have a very small apartment with a Turkish toilet (pretty much a porcelain hole in the floor with foot places to stand on). I change the litter box every few days but it gets rather smelly (I don’t have cat litter available so I use dirt from outside). I think it would be best if I could toilet train my little one. Does anyone know how to do this? I read the instructions for an American toilet and it seemed basic enough, but the turk only has water in a small hole.
Here is a photo on wikipedia:

Any ideas?
Cat using the toilet – Queenie
One of our three cats, Queenie, using the toilet. My son is laughing in the background.
I just ordered the book “How to train your cat to use the toilet in 21 days”?
Why 21 & not 20 or 19, don’t know didn’t get the book yet. Would love to hear from people that have their cats toilet trained. Thanks people!!!
First answer, that was funny. Second answer my indoor 8 month old kitten will only dump & pee in pellet litter which is expensive. The other litters she plays sandbox & tries to eat, even w/my million attempts to divorce her from it. Third answer… I bought a book because I was curious & that’s natural. Kindly if anyone has a cat using the human loo i’d love to hear about it.
Thank you Spike & CO. you made it worth my question!
Thank’s Christy…another answer I was hoping for. I’m not off the toilet about my kitty yet. Upon learning, I will keep the litter box forever anyway, I understand felines need to dig. She’s leash trained & will pull the leash off the hook when she wants to go outside! I thought this would be another healthy challange for us both. I might get crap for it, but this kitty found in a drain pipe, has embraced the outdoors again thanks to the leash when she feared to tread again otherwise. She has every independence on the sun porch & won’t leave it w/o her leash. She’s an alpha/omega all the way
So strange I posted this question today & Yahoo is already asking for best answer, maybe a glitch. I appericiate the input of those that don’t think toilet training the cat is a good idea…I’m the police about my kitty, would never do anything she wouldn’t feel “natural” about. I just wanted to hear more on this. She’s so hip to learn anything new I feel like I have a monkey!! I use the pellet litter called “Yesterday’s New’s” & scoop it. But change the entire box after 24 hours & wash it with hot H20 & white vinegar. I’m no slouch, was just wanting to hear from others on the subject. The jury has spoken! My kitty “Lola” adores water (she has taken a dive in the bath a few times), I think she might have had a previous life as a Bengal cat, but she’s a tuxedo through & through. Thank’s guys for all your feedback!
